Kids,
The second person I'll introduce you to is your Great Grandma Ellen. She was a wonderful little lady who unfortunately you didn't get the opportunity to meet because she passed away last night. I know she would have loved you.
Grandma was a little fireball of a lady. Not quite 5 foot tall, she was a southern woman to the core who could whip up a fierce homemade meal and loved Alabama football. She was married to your Great Grandpa Jack and they had three children - John, Joe and Bob. Bob is my dad and your Grandpa Bob. She was born in Alabama and lived all over the country with Great Grandpa Jack being in the military. They finally settled in Burlington, Iowa for a few years then moved to Athens, Texas. They had a lovely southern style house in East Texas where I remember crashing a moped in the backyard and searching for horned frogs in the wood pile.
We always had Thanksgiving lunch at Great Grandma Ellen's house and every year she was in charge of the turkey. As my cousin Amanda and I got older, she tried to get us to help her but I always refused to stuff or crave the turkey. She always gave me hard time about it. :) One day, I hope I'm as good of a cook as she is!
Love,
Mom
